Fresh ideas for building a Christ-centred community

Support

As we continue to grow a Regional Coordinator team in West Yorkshire we welcome Rachel Gotobed who will support over twenty registered Messy Churches in the Leeds region. Rachel works for The Salvation Army in children's and family ministry. She has experience in running many church groups.

How happy is Lucy Moore? Her team of Regional Coordinators to support Messy Churches in Hampshire is growing rapidly! Welcome Lesley Baker who will support Messy Churches in Havant and the surrounds plus Edwina Cussen and Sandra Williams for the Andover region. After Lucy's Haring Around Hampshire fundraising weekend she is Happy in Hampshire with this news.

Chris Barnett in Melbourne, Australia, is doing a wonderful job finding Regional Coordinators to support the growing numbers of Messy Churches in Victoria. We welcome Murray Purkiss to the Victoria RC team! Murray will be supporting the Messy Churches in the Northern Victoria region. What an encouragement he is to us as he joins this rapidly expanding network.

It's very exciting to see the Messy Church Regional Coordinator network growing, but to see it growing in Australia is awesome when you think of the vast distances between the regions. In Victoria Chris Barnett is plotting and dividing and finding wonderful, passionate people to support this growing Messy ministry.

Helpful ways to finance a Messy Church:

  • Borrow craft supplies and basic equipment from other people for the first few sessions: Brownie cupboards, playgroups and so on. Invest in your own when you are sure that your Messy Church will be long term.

Welcome to Johanna Gisladottir and Hildur Bjork Horpudottir, our new Regional Coordinators in Iceland! Not able to wait until next year's Messy Church Conference, they visited the UK and the Messy Church BRF team then hurried back to Iceland and piloted a Messy Church for themselves. It was a huge success and now lots of churches are making enquiries and asking Johanna and Hildur for support. Please pray for them and this new Messy ministry in Iceland.

Welcome to Rev Jan Fraser as our new Messy Church Regional Coordinator for Southport! Exciting things are happening in this region, with the Methodist Circuit engaging with Messy Church mission in over half of their churches and more to come! Rev Jan is thoroughly immersed in all things Messy and is keen to support with prayer and assistance. Find your Regional Coordinator on our website.

Welcome to Steve Kersys who is our new Messy Church Regional Coordinator for Chelmsford and South Essex. Steve is the Diocese of Chelmsford Children's and Families Adviser and a huge advocate of Messy Church and it's ministry to our communities.

Hertfordshire has never had a Regional Coordinator! So we are delighted to announce that Becki Chafe, in St Albans, is taking on this supportive role for over fifty registered churches. Becki is the Children's and Families Worker at Christ Church, St Albans, and coordinates a Messy Church with a fantastic team.

Welcome to two more Hampshire Messy Regional Coordinators! Claire Johnson will support Messy Churches in the Fareham West region and Hazel Bagshaw (aka Garry) will support Messy Churches in the Fareham and Gosport region. Please pray for Claire and Garry as they embark on this Messy ministry and join Rhiannon Wilmott in Southampton sharing good practice and encouragement.
